Teen !nterviews Interview

How long have you been singing?
I have been singing ever since I could talk, so pretty much when I was two.
How long have you been playing guitar?

I have been playing since I was 13, I got an electric guitar for my thirteenth Christmas, so almost four years.
You have had huge success over YouTube! How do you think your career would be different without YouTube?
I think that it would be a lot different. I mean YouTube has really helped me reach out to a variety of ages and people. I have people in college, parents, families and little kids who listen to me. YouTube has also helped me gain a fan base from people all over the world. Without YouTube I wouldn’t have been able to reach out to them as much.
Were you born in an area that made it easier to pursue your career, or did you move to help pursue it?
I was born and raised in Oregon. I still live in Oregon. My family has not yet made the yet the move to Los Angeles, but we travel a lot.

What has been your favorite live performance?
I performed at the Roxy, its a world famous club in Hollywood California. It was my last show of the tour, so it was bittersweet . I also had a blast performing at city walk. Performing in Chicago was also great.
How did you get over stage fright?
I mean I’ve been performing since I was a little girl in plays and talent shows and I’ve always loved it. So I’ve never really had stage fright. My very first show was in New Jersey, and it was pretty scary. It was all my own all original songs.
What is the biggest accomplishment you think you have made so far?
When I was first on Radio Disney, that was so exciting. My song fighting for my life just got a 98% pick it, and my song Goodbyes was number five on the top thirty. Touring and traveling the world has also been amazing. I still have so many goals.
Do you write your own music?
Yes, I write or co-write all my music.
Who has been your biggest musical influence?
So far, I would have to say Celine Dion is a huge inspiration to me. Not just musically, but the way she is in life in general. So many people really respect her in the music industry. I listen to a variety of music- Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, City and Colour, the fray, Jacks Mannequin, and the Beatles.
What advise do you have for aspiring musicians?
Just to never, never give up. I always say that, but if you give up you cant reach your goals. You have to be really passionate because it is a really hard business. If you want to be in the industry as a singer, actor, actress, dancer, model- whatever, never give up.
Do you act as well?
I haven’t been in anything, but it is something I would love to do in the future. I love dramatic and funny shows, like gossip girl. I think that would be really fun.
What is your favorite color?
Purple and mustard yellow.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite book would have to be Dear John and the Twilight books.
Favorite movie?
My favorite movies are She’s the Man, The Notebook, Because I Said So, and Napoleon Dynamite.
