Savannah: Hey guys it’s me Savannah, catching up with YouTube star Lucas Cruikshank who plays Fred. How are you doing Lucas?

Lucas Cruikshank I’m doing good how about you?

Savannah: I’m doing awesome. So how did you feel when you first posted your video on YouTube. I know that I was really nervous and kind of scared of what people might think.

Lucas Cruikshank: Actually, I didn’t even understand what YouTube was it was so long ago. I thought I could just post videos and like I could just show them to my friends. I didn’t know a whole entire group of people could see them, like I didn’t know it was open to the whole entire world but then when I started getting all of the views I realized…

Savannah: That’s awesome. How involved are you in posting all the videos. Do you shoot them by yourself, do you edit them by yourself?

Lucas Cruikshank: Umm yeah, actually the YouTube videos I do everything. I come up with idea, except when my family helps me come up with the idea. I film it all by myself and I edit it so…

Savannah: Cool, how do you come up with all of those ideas?

Lucas Cruikshank: Umm, well sometimes it gets hard since I’ve done so many but usually it comes to me randomly like during the day. Like when I think too hard about an idea, it’s like too much pressure and it doesn’t happen, so it usually works better when I think of it organically and it just pops up in my head randomly.

Savannah: Who inspired you to come up with Fred?

Lucas Cruikshank: Umm… well as like as long as I can remember I was always creating characters and random sketch videos so, I always just thought it was what every kid did and was normal. But, Fred was kind of based on my two little brothers. LIke it’s an exaggerated version of them because they’re kind of as crazy as Fred but they’re definitely not as crazy as Fred and they don’t have as many problems as him.

Savannah: So you have two brothers?

Lucas Cruikshank: Yeah, I actually have two brothers and five sisters. I live in a really big family.

Savannah: You have five sisters?

Lucas Cruikshank: Yeah, I’m like rig in the middle

Are you the youngest or the oldest… or middle?

Lucas Cruikshank: I’m right in the middle. I have three old sisters, two younger sisters and two younger brothers.

Savannah: It’s a full house for sure… do they do funny videos like you?

Lucas Cruikshank: Well I posted random videos online with my family and my friends and stuff. But none of them want to be actors and stuff. So I’m like the only one that wants to be an actor.

Savannah: Oh, okay. What’s one of your pet peeves with YouTube?

Lucas Cruikshank: One of my pet peeves with YouTube is definitely like people who just say stuff because they feel so powerful because they’re so unknown because of the internet. They think that they can just write anything they want.

Savannah: Exactly, yeah. You had the opportunity to guest star on iCarly. I love Jennette and Miranda is so sweet so did you enjoying acting and being with Miranda and Jennette?

Lucas Cruikshank: Yeah, they were all really nice and It was like my first acting, professional gig so I was really nervous and like scared and everything it so much different than just being at your house and taping a video. So they like helped me with everything and they were all really nice and well to me. I’m actually going to be on Hannah Montana as well, I taped that in April so it should be airing soon.

Savannah: That’s so cool, did you like Miley?

Lucas Cruikshank: Yeah, I was really nervous because she’s so huge but she was really nice and just a regular person. Soo…

Savannah: Awesome, I will be watching for it! And of course you won a Teen Choice Award for Favorite Web Star. That’s so awesome, how did you feel?

Lucas Cruikshank: Umm, I felt, it was so like amazing to even be like nominated for an actual award so that was crazy. And then on top of that winning, because I was up against Will Ferrell and Ashton Kutcher and stuff and Will Ferrell is like definitely my comedy inspiration so that was crazy to even be in the same award as him.

Savannah: Well I was rooting for you so I’m glad you won.
